Mission Possible -- Being the Church

The following questions can be used as a study aid but there was not a sermon preached at the Grace Place on Sunday, October 2, 2011.  Instead the church met under the trees and a bright, blue sky in the church park for singing and prayer before heading out in our green t-shirts into the community to service others.  We called it "Grace on the Go -- 10/2 Their Needs.

These questions can be used in your private Bible study during the week or as a basis for a small group study. For more information on hosting or leading a small group study, click on "GP Small Groups" under "GP Ministries" at www.graceplace.us.

How did you participate in “Grace on the Go?”

Whose needs did you “10/2?”

What was the reaction of the recipients and/or by-standers?

What one thing will you remember about the day?

Scripture Reference:  Matthew 12:1-14

Excavate:

How do you feel about working on Sunday?

Why do you think our church leaders plan such a day?

How are we “being the church” when we take “church” into the community?

Extract:

What service project could your small group do together?

How can you make every day a “Grace on the Go” day?

John Maxwell said, “People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.”  Who specifically in your life needs to know how much you care?  You do not need to answer this question aloud (or you can).  Pray for God to reveal ways for you to show His care to that person through an act of kindness.

I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS: Tough Love

Icebreaker: What is your favorite Christmas movie? What is your favorite Christmas movie quote? Overview: In the Christmas classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” angel Clarence Odbody is forced to lovingly deliver some tough love when George wishes he had never been born. Clarence grants his wish lamenting that there must be an easier way to get his wings. After George has a frightening experience of what life would have been like had he never been born, Clarence says, “ Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?” In the end, George realizes how wonderful his life truly is despite its difficulties. Truth without love is brutality, and love without truth is hypocrisy.   -- Warren W. Wiersbe God loved us so much that He sent His Son as the Baby Jesus to redeem us. He has placed preachers, teachers and a church in our lives to give us direction so we can mature in our faith. He disciplines us wi...
