Break the Huddle: Going out to play the game

The following questions are to be used as a study aid for Grace Place on Sunday, October 21.  There was no sermon because the congregation left the building to serve others in the community as “Grace on the Go.”

These questions can be used in your private Bible study during the week or as a basis for a small group study. For more information on hosting or leading a small group study, click on "GP Small Groups" under "GP Ministries" at www.graceplace.us.

Explore:

Have you ever been a server at a restaurant?  On a cleaning crew?  Clerk at a window?

How were you treated by the people you served at those jobs?

What is the most menial task you have ever been asked to do?

How do you feel when you are asked to do a task “beneath” you?

Scripture Reference:  Luke 22:24-27, Ephesians 6:7

Excavate:

Not everyone can be the quarterback.  Someone has to be the water boy.

What was the source of the dispute among the disciples?

What position did Jesus deserve to be “playing” on the team?

What position did He say He was “playing” instead?

Extract:

What are some jobs considered “menial” by Christians?

How do you feel when you are the water boy instead of the quarterback?

What kind of attitude should you have when serving others?

How can you increase your water carrying skills?

Prayer:

Pray for our pastoral staff.

Pray for potential small group members and new facilitators.

Pray for new small groups.

Pray for new discipleship class.
