The following questions are to be used as a study aid for
the sermon preached by Pastor Tommy Dove at the Grace Place on Sunday, August
4, 2013. To get the most from these questions, go to
https://soundcloud.com/#graceplacehermitage and listen to the service first.
These questions can be used in your private Bible study
during the week or as the topic for a small group study. For more information

Fellowship: (Break bread with your community, share life
from last week, announcements for next week)
Icebreaker: (Get to know your fellow believers a little
bit better using this week’s topic)
Did you see Nik
Wallenda walk across the Grand Canyon?
If you didn’t, find it on YouTube and watch it. You will be blessed and scared to death all
at the same time. (He made it, BTW.)
Why do people risk their lives for a stunt? What is the stupidest, craziest, most reckless thing you have ever done?
Why did you do that thing?
Do you regret doing it?
Worship: (Optional for communities who have the time and
talent)
“Forever Reign” Hillsong
(Check out YouTube video via Facebook page)
Scripture: (Read the word together – use different
readers, different versions, just read it)
Matthew 19:16-30
Lesson: (Delve deeper into the Word and into the sermon
using open-ended questions)
You may hear a teen
say, “YOLO.” It means “You Only Live
Once.” Unfortunately, YOLO has become a
license to do stupid and dangerous things because “you only live once.” Live for today because you can’t be assured of
tomorrow. The rich, young man in our lesson today had “YOLO” thinking.
What was the young man’s motivation for asking Jesus
about eternal life?
Why did Jesus require everything of this young man?Read the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 20:12-17
Why did Jesus leave out the first four?
How do you feel about living forever?
Why might the unsaved think salvation is impossible today?
How can YOLO be used to benefit you? Others?
Prayer: (Share each other’s burdens, become a community
of believers)
