The following questions are to be used as a study aid for
the sermon preached by Pastor Tommy Dove at the Grace Place on Sunday, April
20, 2014. To get the most from these questions, go to
https://soundcloud.com/#graceplacehermitage and listen to the service first.
These questions can be used in your private Bible study
during the week or as the topic for a small group study. For more information
on hosting or leading a small group study, click on "GP Small Groups"
under "GP Ministries" at www.graceplace.us.
Fellowship: (Break bread with your community, share life
from last week, announcements for next week)
Icebreaker: (Get to know your fellow believers a little
bit better using this week’s topic)
How good are you at sharing?
Have you ever had to give away something important? What?
Why?
Has someone ever given you something you knew was a
sacrifice for them? What? Why?
Worship: (Optional for communities who have the time and
talent)
Glorious Day (Living He Loved Me) – Casting Crowns (Find on
GP Community Groups Facebook page)
Scripture: (Read the word together – use different
readers, different versions, just read it)
Luke 23:26-49, 24:1-8
Lesson: (Delve deeper into the Word and into the sermon
using open-ended questions)
Occasionally we
hear about someone sacrificing their life to save someone else. We call these people a “hero.” Jesus made the extreme sacrifice of giving
His sacred life for the whole world. We
call Him our Lord and Savior.
How does sin affect our society?
What are the consequences of sin?
How are we like the criminals at the crucifixion?
What was the significance of the torn curtain?
What does Jesus’ sacrifice mean to our society?
What does Jesus’ sacrifice mean to you?
Prayer: (Share each other’s burdens, become a community
of believers)
