Fellowship:
(Break bread with your community, share life from last week, announcements for
next week)
Icebreaker:
(Get to know your fellow believers a little bit better using this week’s topic)
What
is your favorite bread?
What
is your favorite meal?
What
did Jesus eat?
Scripture:
(Read the word together – use different readers, different versions, just read
it
Matthew
4: 1-4 and John 6:23-58
Lesson:
(Delve deeper into the Word and into the sermon using open-ended questions)
The Bible is full of visual symbols that
remind us of the truths that Jesus taught.
He told the crowd who was following him for food, “I am the bread of
life.” Before His crucifixion, Jesus
took the bread, broke it and said, “This is my body.” Something as simple and basic as bread can
lead us to Jesus. Share some bread with
your group this week and remember.
Why
was Jesus fasting in the desert?
What
benefits are there in fasting?
Why
do you think the devil tempted Jesus with bread?
Have
you ever fasted? Why? How long?
Why
does it matter what or how much we eat?
Why
did Jesus use the illustration of bread?
What
does it mean to you that Jesus is the “Bread of Life?”
Why
is it important what we feed our spirits?
Prayer:
(Share each other’s burdens, become a community of believers)
