Fellowship: (Break bread with your community, share life from
last week, announcements for next week)
Icebreaker: (Get to know your fellow believers a little bit
better using this week’s topic)
If you attended the Seder Supper, what were your thoughts?
How did you spend the holiday weekend?
Where did you worship on Sunday?
Scripture: (Read the word together – use different readers,
different versions, just read it)
Matthew 28:1-20
Lesson: (Delve deeper into the Word and into the sermon using
open-ended questions)
We visited the
cemetery on Good Friday. It just seemed
like a good time to visit my parents’ gravesite. The flowers on their grave were looking shabby
so we replaced them with a fresh, spring bouquet of fake flowers. It seemed bad to put fake flowers on the
graves of people who loved gardening and flowers so much. Oh, well, they are not there anyway. The flowers and the grave markers are just symbols. Hallelujah!
Jesus won’t be found in the cemetery either! He is Risen!
What feelings do cemeteries and graves represent?
Why is death described as punishment?
How did Jesus’ followers feel after the crucifixion?
Why do you think women were the ones to go to the tomb?
What would you have been doing on Sunday morning?
What did the empty tomb symbolize?
Why do you think His followers were afraid after the
resurrection?
How does the believer’s view of death different?
How does the Great Commission challenge you?
Prayer: (Share
each other’s burdens, become a community of believers)
