Fellowship: (Break bread with your community, share life from
last week, announcements for next week)
Icebreaker: (Get to know your fellow believers a little bit
better using this week’s topic)
What does it mean to be a “person of your word?”
What is the biggest promise you have ever made?
How do you feel about someone who breaks a promise?
Scripture: (Read the word together – use different readers,
different versions, just read it)
Matthew 28:20, Psalm 23
Lesson: (Delve deeper into the Word and into the sermon using
open-ended questions)
We tend to remember
David as either the brave, young man who killed Goliath or the rich, powerful
king who took Bathsheba and had her husband murdered. If you are reading the Bible through this
year, you also know him as the frightened author of many Psalms as he was pursued
by his enemy, the evil King Saul. He
knew what it was to find rest in the Lord and take comfort in knowing he was
never alone. Neither are we.
How do you think David felt as he was pursued by King
Saul?
How was David feeling when he wrote the 23rd
Psalm?
Which part of the psalm speaks most to you?
Why is knowing God is always with you reassuring?
What situations in life zap our strength?
How does God give you rest?
Who has God put in your life to comfort you?
Prayer: (Share
each other’s burdens, become a community of believers)
