Fellowship: (Break bread with your community, share life from
last week, announcements for next week)
Icebreaker: (Get to know your fellow believers a little bit
better using this week’s topic)
What one item do you have too many of?
Why do you think you desire to have more than you need?
How can you thin your collection?
Scripture: (Read the word together – use different readers, different
versions, just read it)
Matthew 6:19-34
Lesson: (Delve deeper into the Word and into the sermon using
open-ended questions)
Professional help
had to be called in to help clear the clutter off my desk. With her help, the clutter was properly
sorted and either thrown away or filed.
A place for everything and everything in its place. It was fairly easy to go through the piles of
paper on my desk since there was no emotional attachment to work stuff. Now, the hall closet is a different story!
How should we feel about material things?
How do we feel about our stuff?
Why is it easier to recognize other people’s junk than
our own?
Why did Jesus teach about money and possessions?
When does the possession of material things become a
problem?
Where should our focus be placed?
How can we put this into practice?
What are some practical ways to eliminate some stuff?
Prayer: (Share
each other’s burdens, become a community of believers)
