Fellowship: (Break bread with your community, share life from
last week, announcements for next week)
Icebreaker: (Get to know your fellow believers a little bit
better using this week’s topic)
Who is the oldest person you have ever known?
How old is/was your oldest relative?
What kind of older person do you want to be?
Scripture: (Read the word together – use different readers,
different versions, just read it)
1 Timothy 5:1-8, Titus 2:1-8
Lesson: (Delve deeper into the Word and into the sermon using
open-ended questions)
There is not much
respect for age in our society. Old
women are ignored and underestimated.
Old men are seen as weak and irrelevant.
Just the simple act of holding the door for an older person is a thing
of the past. We have a lot to learn and
teach about treating people of all ages with honor and respect.
What is influence?
How is the power of influence gained?
How can families teach respect for people of all ages?
What is the benefits of family taking care of family?
What impact on society does it have when families don’t
take care of their own?
What part does the local church play in teaching people
of all ages?
How are older individuals utilized in your local church?
What responsibility does the local church have to our
elder population?
Prayer: (Share
each other’s burdens, become a community of believers)
