INVASION! Invade My Community

The following questions are to be used as a study aid for the sermon preached by Pastor Jon Green at the Grace Place on Sunday, October 25, 2015.  To get the most from these questions, view the service by going to http://www.nashvillechurch.com and clicking on “Streaming.”  From there you can watch or listen to the service first.

Fellowship:

Icebreaker:
Where were you born?
How many places have you lived?
What was your favorite home?  Why?

Scripture:
Acts 9:1-19a    Saul’s conversion
Acts 9:19b-31  Paul’s preparation
Acts 9:32-43    Peter’s invasion

Lesson:
Our annual Grace on the Go will be Sunday, November 8th.  We will meet for worship at 9 a.m. and then invade our community at 10:30.  As the apostles were commanded to “Go,” so are we.  Our community needs our love and witness.  Pray about how you and your group will be involved this year.

Why do you think Saul’s conversion had to be so dramatic?  (verse 16)
How did Saul/Paul prepare to invade other communities for Christ?
What was the result of Peter’s invasion of the surrounding communities?
Why is preparation an important part of our invasion plans?
How can Christ use us in our community?
Why does it matter that our church invades Hermitage/Donelson/Mt Juliet/Antioch?
Why does it matter if you personally get involved?
Discuss plans for Grace on the Go

Prayer:

Our pastor along with several others are currently in Santa Rita, Honduras on a medical mission.  Please pray for the people of Santa Rita who will be touched by their hands as our friends invade that community.

I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS: Tough Love

Icebreaker: What is your favorite Christmas movie? What is your favorite Christmas movie quote? Overview: In the Christmas classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” angel Clarence Odbody is forced to lovingly deliver some tough love when George wishes he had never been born. Clarence grants his wish lamenting that there must be an easier way to get his wings. After George has a frightening experience of what life would have been like had he never been born, Clarence says, “ Each man's life touches so many other lives. When he isn't around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn't he?” In the end, George realizes how wonderful his life truly is despite its difficulties. Truth without love is brutality, and love without truth is hypocrisy.   -- Warren W. Wiersbe God loved us so much that He sent His Son as the Baby Jesus to redeem us. He has placed preachers, teachers and a church in our lives to give us direction so we can mature in our faith. He disciplines us wi...
