Icebreaker:
For appointments, are you usually?  a) early, b) on time or c) late.
Would you rather?  a) block time on calendar for everything, b) set phone reminders for important stuff,   c) keep it all in your head or d) what’s a calendar?
Tell about a divine appointment you have had.

Scripture:
Acts 16:1-34

Lesson:
The jail at Philippi is a deep, dark cave cut into the side of a hill overlooking the ruins of that great city.  Paul and Silas weren’t supposed to be in Philippi but were there because of a divine appointment.  Paul said later that they suffered greatly in Philippi but it was worth it.  The gospel spread in Philippi because of their obedience and the faith that invaded families.

Why were Paul and Silas in Philippi?
How did Paul and Silas respond to change in plans?  Treatment there?
Why does our attitude matter when sharing the gospel?
How did Lydia’s family aid in comforting Paul and Silas?
How did the jailer’s family respond to the gospel?  What time was it?
What did the jailer’s family do for Paul and Silas?
What difference did these families make in their community?
How does this story inspire you?
