Fellowship:
Icebreaker:
Talk about your favorite TV family.
What makes them a pleasing family example?
What makes them a dysfunctional family?
Scripture:
Matthew 5:4; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-18
Lesson:
After you have suffered a great
loss, it is difficult to read Principle #2 of the Beatitudes: “Happy are those
who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
We don’t feel very “happy” in our grief.
Perhaps a more descriptive word would be that we feel “reassured” that
in our grief we have a source of comfort in our Lord and Savior. We have a hope deep in our soul. The expression of that hope is a quiet life
that is pleasing to God, others and ourselves.
What kind of life is pleasing to God?
How is this kind of life also pleasing to others?
Why is work an important part of this life?
How does social media affect this quiet life?
Why do we need the respect of “outsiders?”
How is a pleasing life beneficial to you?
How does grief express itself?
What part does hope in eternal life play in our grief?
How can we encourage those in grief?
