Fellowship:
Icebreaker:
What does your garage, storage shed, etc., contain?
What percentage could be donated or trashed?
Why do we hang on to our stuff?
Scripture:
Matthew 5:5, Philippians 3:5-14
Lesson:
One of the hardest things in life
to do is sort through the belongings of a departed loved one. What is important and what is not? Why did they hang on to certain items? How do you throw away things they may have
considered valuable? Sometimes we need
to sort through the things in our own hearts.
Are we treasuring a pedigree or skill as valuable when it is actually
trash? Blessed are the humble because they
know the true value of a life lived for Christ.
What are some traits or skills that people consider valuable?
How do people use these things to keep score?
What does Paul say about these things?
Why was Paul an expert on humility?
How do we press on toward “perfection?”
What does a “perfect life” look like?
How do we keep from appearing as a “goody two-shoes?”
