MAY YOUR KINGDOM COME: The Power of the Kingdom

The following questions are to be used as a study aid for the sermon preached by Pastor Tommy Dove at the Grace Place on Sunday, October 23, 2016.  To get the most from these questions, go to http://www.nashvillechurch.com and click on “Media” to either stream the current service or listen to a previous sermon.

These questions can be used in your private Bible study during the week or as the topic for a small group study.  For more information on participating in a small group study, click on "Life Groups" at the top of www.nashvillechurch.com.

Fellowship:
Sharing a pumpkin flavored item (or two) would be fun this week.

Icebreaker:
What is your favorite fruit flavor?
How do you feel about pumpkin flavor?  (It’s a fruit.  Goggle it!)
What is your favorite pumpkin item of the season?

Scripture:
Matthew 12:22-37

Lesson:
If you are like most people, fall means the return of the Pumpkin Spiced Latte at Starbucks.  But now, pumpkin is infused into everything -- Pumpkin Spice Cheerios, Pumpkin Spice Krispy Kreme cake doughnuts and even Pumpkin Spice Latte Peeps!  The use of this good fruit has hit an all-time high.  May the goodness that flows from our hearts infuse our community with the goodness that comes from the Power of the Kingdom!

What had been going on just prior to our scripture?
Why were the Pharisees upset by Jesus healing people?
Why was healing a demon-possessed man especially upsetting?
How did Jesus respond to the Pharisees?
What did He say about their words?
Why did He call them a “brood of vipers?”
How is good fruit recognized?
Why do the words that flow from our hearts matter?
