A FRESH START

The following questions are to be used as a study aid for the sermon preached by Pastor Tommy Dove at the Grace Place on Sunday, January 1, 2017.

These questions can be used in your private Bible study during the week or for a small group study.  For more information on participating in a small group study, contact Pastor Jon Green.

Fellowship:

Icebreaker:
What was a highlight of 2016?
What was a lowlight of 2016?

Scripture:
Matthew 9:9-17

Lesson:
If you are getting the itch to do some home improvements or join a gym, you are not alone.  For many of us, January is a time to hit reset and start fresh.  It is a natural time to do a personal evaluation.  Where are you mentally, physically, materially, relationally and spiritually?  If something is broken, now is the time for a fresh start!

How did Jesus’ call change Matthew’s routine?
Why did Jesus hang out with sinners?
How did Jesus change the focus for many?
Why is change so difficult for us?
What is so wrong with the old “wineskins?”
Why is it necessary to do a periodic self-evaluation?
What are your plans for a fresh start in 2017?
(Take some time for each person to share.)
