Fellowship:
Icebreaker:
What is your favorite Gatlinburg/Smoky Mountain memory?
Have you ever experienced a fire? When?
Where?
Scripture:
Luke 2:11; Matthew 4:23; Isaiah 53:5
Lesson:
The wildfires in East
Tennessee have caught the attention of people everywhere. Perhaps it is because we have fond memories
of riding the roller coaster at Dollywood, strolling downtown Gatlinburg or
sitting on a cabin porch drinking in the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. Our hearts hurt for those who have lost their
lives, homes and livelihoods. Baby Jesus
was born to take away the sins of the world but not our hurts. He is our Savior but He is also our Healer.
What did it mean that Jesus was born the Messiah?
What responsibility did that carry with it?
How does seeing folks suffer affect you?
How did it affect Jesus?
Why did Jesus heal people while on earth?
Why do you think Jesus did not/does not heal everyone?
Which is most important to Jesus – salvation or healing?
How does Jesus’ attitude change your priorities?
