Overview: (skip if video is used)
Everyone responds
differently to brokenness. An
acquaintance of mine asked me what I did over the Christmas holiday. Knowing he was a Christian, I felt
comfortable telling him I had been writing some devotions on the topic of
broken for my church. He became quiet
and said, “Everyone understands being broken.
Mine was when my wife of 29 years told me she didn’t want to be married
for 30 years and left me. I was
depressed. It took 2-1/2 years to
recover.” He was heartbroken. Fortunately, he knew that God is the only
source of true healing.
The Bible gives us a
peek into the lives of brokenhearted people.
Some like Solomon and Saul questioned their lives and came up
empty. Job and David were surrounded by
suffering and fear that seemed to have no end.
They were not ashamed to cry out to God in their brokenness. He heard their cries and mended their broken
hearts. Praise God! He knows and understands our broken hearts!
