I LOVE THAT! Talk is Cheap

The following questions can be used as a weekly recap in a small group setting or as a personal study aid for the sermon preached by Senior Pastor, Tommy Dove, at the Grace Place on Sunday, July 2, 2017.  Past sermons are available offline at www.nashvillechurch.com.  Click on “Media” to view the video.

Weekly Warm-up:
What foreign languages have you studied?
Which language would you like to learn?

Weekly Overview:
Most of us realize we should speak to each other with love.  It is easier said than done especially when it is someone with whom we spend a great deal of time such as a spouse or other family member.  If you have read The 5 Love Languages, you may remember that people respond differently based on their love language or their perception of your message.  If you are not speaking and listening with love, your words may sound like a noisy gong to the listener and the message you hear may sound like a clanging cymbal.

Weekly Discussion Questions:
Read 1 Corinthians 13:1, John 1:1-5, Ephesians 4:11-16
What are obstacles to communication?
How does your motivation for speaking affect your message?
How does speaking to someone with love change how the message is received?
How important is listening?
Why is it important to listen with love?
How can you become a more “loving” listener?
What does an immature person sound like?
What do you need to do to become a more mature communicator?

Group Prayer:
Pray for more mature communication.

Pray for effective communication in our families.
