MY PARENTS TAUGHT ME: Determination & Discipline

The following questions can be used as a weekly recap in a small group setting or as a personal study aid for the sermon preached by Lead Pastor Tommy Dove at the Grace Place on Sunday, September 24, 2017.  Past sermons are available offline at www.nashvillechurch.com.  Click on “Media” to view the video.
Weekly Warm-up:
How many buyer reward cards are in your wallet?
Which one is your favorite?

Weekly Overview:
God bless those parents who loved us enough to teach us determination and apply corrective discipline.  No, discipline is not pleasant but through it we learn the lessons of life.  God does not withhold discipline from his children whom He loves.  From it we learn how to follow Him with determination and love.
Weekly Discussion Questions:
Read Hebrews 12:1-13

What example of determination did Jesus set?
How does keeping your eyes fixed on Him help you persevere?
Why is accepting discipline so difficult?
How can discipline be a display of love?
(An old saying: “No good deed goes unpunished.”)
Why does sin often go unpunished?
What are the rewards of a disciplined life?
How can it bring peace to our life?

Group Prayer:
Pray for the list of church weekly needs.
Pray for a harvest of righteousness and peace.

Pray for those who do not love God.
